Pearls: a lunar symbol, also represent water and feminine aspects in many cultures. They are attributes of angelic perfection, which is only achieved by adapting and transforming. Pearls are rare, pure and precious, flawless and white despite being found inside a clumsy shell dredged from the mud.

Cloisonné for jewelry outlines the elements of the design with silver wire attached to a silver base. Each space is then carefully filled and baked with layers of enamel until it reaches the height of the wire, a painstaking and time-consuming process. First produced in Beijing during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), the color and finish of cloisonné were brought to perfection during Kangxi’s reign during the 16th century.
